Juan Ambrosioni, MD, PhD is staff physician at the HIV Unit and Infectious Disease Service, Hospital Clinic, Barcelona, Spain.
He is infectious disease specialist by the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and by the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He is Doctor in Medicine by the University of Geneva and Doctor in Microbiology by the University of Buenos Aires.
Following his ID training in Argentina, he joined the ID Service at the University Hospitals of Geneva between 2008 and 2013. After a brief period in Madagascar, he joined the Hospital Clinic in Barcelona.
He has been and continue being deeply involved in clinical and translational research in Europe and in Africa in topics such as antiretroviral therapy, tuberculosis, COVID-19 and HIV cure strategies. He has authored more than 160 peer-reviewed papers indexed in PubMed in the most important journals of HIV/AIDS and ID, has been cited more than 3000 times and has and H index of 27.
He is author/reviewer of the GeSIDA guidelines for antiretroviral therapy and for Opportunistic Infections and he’s the global coordinator of the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) Guidelines since 2022.
